Athlete's Physicals - A PORI Sponsored Event
Every year, Pinnacle Orthopaedics and Pinnacle Orthopaedic
Research Institute sponsor an annual physical day.
This year 1200 athletes from over twenty area schools
participated in the event. School physicals
are performed and the athlete is cleared to participate
in their sport of choice.
Beginning in 2005, physicals included a thorough
cardiac examination peformed by Kennestone Cardiovascular
Consultants, a large cardiology group in Marietta,
Georgia.
The group performed a cardiac exam that included
a cardiac echo on every athlete. This test permits
a more direct examination of the heart and looks
for conditions that might prove dangerous for athletes.
This year, cardiac evaluations were performed by
the same group and in addition to a cardiac echo,
an EKG was performed on each athlete.
