Mini-incision Knee Replacement

Would you prefer to have your knee replacement surgery performed through a smaller incision? Many individuals (who wouldn’t) do prefer this approach and appreciate the improved early function that this surgery permits.

This new procedure, also known as quad-sparing knee replacement surgery, requires special techniques and equipment. The surgeon must be trained in this method of knee replacement and it is best performed with hospital staff familiar with and comfortable with this new method of knee replacement surgery.

Not all individuals; however, are candidates for this procedure. You will need to ask your surgeon to see if this procedure is best for you.  If you are not a candidate for the smaller incision and require the standard, longer incision, feel comfortable in that the standard procedure has been successful for many years and is the procedure performed by most orthopaedic surgeons.
