Digital Life - Digital X-Ray Now A
Reality
Technology has become an almost routine part of
modern orthopaedic surgery. Digital X-ray has replaced
the use of film in some orthopaedic practices. This
technology permits a much finer evaluation of bones
and joints and enables a potentially more accurate
diagnosis by your orthopaedic surgeon.
Digital x-ray also enables a more precise way to
perform measurements. This greatly assists the surgeon
is preparation for surgery if knee or hip surgery
is to be performed.
The bone x-rays are projected onto computer screen
and adjustments to the image are made to enhance
image detail. As in all digital documents,
the image can be saved to a disk for transport and
later viewing. Some institutitons are equipped
to project the image into the area most needed in
surgery-the operating room.
Where is this technology going and how will it affect
you? Most medical practices will ‘digitize’ and
offer this digital x-ray service. In the future,
you will carry this information in your pocket, stored
on a medical card-stay tuned! | |
